This typeface also presents variable glyphs for the vowels, to show how migration is not a static process and how immigrants constantly evolve, change, and adapt to the culture surrounding them.
The categories found in acculturation can be broken down into visual cues. Integration holds all the elements that would suggest a smooth transition. Deculturation encapsulates the idea of loss and a sense of incompleteness. Rejection is characterised by confrontation that can be seen as sharp and hostile. While assimilation holds more quirkiness, existing in both the smoothness of integration in the public sphere, and the sharpness of rejection in the private sphere. These visual cues became the base of my approach towards the letterforms.
